Please note:

From Monday, October 7, until probably Sunday, November 10, 2024 the funicular will have to suspend operations due to urgent construction work above the Schloss station. 

A rail replacement service with buses will be set up for the lower funicular. The bus runs every half hour between the Kornmarkt valley station via the Schloss stop to Molkenkur. At weekends, an additional bus service will be provided. The upper funicular will run at its usual frequency. The rail replacement service is included in the castle/funicular ticket. It is also possible to travel to the castle on the RNV bus route 30 - although this is subject to a charge. The bus stops are: S-Bahn station Altstadt - Peterskirche - Schloss - Molkenkur - MPI Astronomie.

The replacement bus will only run until 18:00. For this reason, the upper line will also only run until 18:00. It is possible to change between the bus and the upper funicular at Molkenkur.

The ticket office of the funicular at Kornmarkt will remain open despite the construction work. It will remain staffed throughout to provide customers with information and to purchase tickets.

Please note:
From Tuesday, January 7 to Friday, March 28, 2025, the funicular will be out of service due to the 2025 annual inspection.  

During the annual inspection, a bus will run every 30 minutes from 9.00 a.m. from Kornmarkt station via the castle to Molkenkur station. The last journey takes place at 5.00 pm. Passengers can reach the Königsstuhl from Bismarckplatz on line 39. 
The rail replacement service is included in the castle/funicular  ticket.
